satgur

Although we may read a variety of material and listen to multitudes of spiritual discourses, they are not the Way themselves; they point only to the way. Their main service is to ignite the desire to find and live the Way.

Ultimately, a true spiritual seeker must always come to themselves. They cannot take outside wisdom because wisdom is not communicated in language or between people. Wisdom belongs to the one, nondual and undivided, eternal. It is what contains everything. You will always find it inside of you, inside that very essence of you which remains constant even as the world around you and even your personality changes.

It is this essence, this spirit, which teaches animals to walk and birds to fly from the minute they are born. It is this spirit which is called the Satguru, or the Holy Spirit (at some point, the distinction of nomenclature begins to fade away; you find yourself able to switch to any which suits the audience). It is the same teacher of Jesus and all the prophets, all the saints and the mystics, and truly everyone who is or has been alive. Whether they have clearly felt and understood it matters not. It is by this power that we learn and grow. It is by the Guru-Jot that we even are.

This is by no means an attempt to do the impossible, which is to somehow transfer this to you. That is not my place nor my ability; it is between you and that Satguru. And even if we talk about trying to share this, then as time passes, I am more and more convinced that Guru Granth Sahib has done it the best. Any exegesis, lecture, discourse, or book will always be of a lesser nature, because it has to be brought down many levels to communicate. This essay is merely an attempt to point to the fact that it is. Seek and you will find it. That is all that there is to communicate and is the limit of what can. be said.
