You have a deep emotional attachment to all of your beliefs, but your beliefs about religion have been particularly dificult to let go of. Therefore, the evolution of your religions has lagged far behind the evolution of your sciences, your technologies, your psychologies-indeed, your understanding of every other aspect of life.

You have done the things you have been doing to each other in the name of religion because many of your present organized religions—all well-meant, all well intended, and most grounded in some sound spiritual principles-are simply incomplete in their under. standings.

Religion has not been allowed to grow.

Indeed, you will not let it grow. You claim that any new insight that contradicts or modifies the old is blasphemous and heretical. You claim that New Revelations are not possible. Your position is that everything there is to say has already been said, everything there is to know is already known, everything there is to understand is already understood.
Your desperate struggle to keep your species alive-to stop its members from killing each other and from destroying all of life—will not end, and it may wind up ending you, if you are unable to make one simple statement

The serious student never becomes impatient at the repetitions of the master.

Those who live fully never become impatient at the repetitions of life.

Life itself is a repetition. It is impossible for anything new to occur, It is only possible to have new experiences of that which has occurred many times before.

God is a Repetition. Life is God, repeating Itself.

Acquire a taste for repetition. When you do, youacquire a love of God, and of life.
You will know this this Spring, when you once again see the flowers bloom. This Summer, when you once again bask in the sun. This Fall, when you once again smell the freshness in the air. This Winter, when you once again stand in wonder of new-fallen snow.

You will know it when you smile at the sound of a favorite melody that you have heard over and over again, yet of which you never tire. Or when you next move into love’s fond embrace, of which you cannot get enough.

These things you have done over and over again, and you love the repetition.

Then I am going to make some points very clear here-through repetition. Circular logic gains its power from the circle it creates. To travel a circle is to journey over the same ground time and time again.

Ever it has been so, for it is natural for humans to experience themselves as part of a larger whole, and to know deeply that that is a thing called God. Atheism is a learned reaction; Deism is a natural response, an intuitive “knowing,” a deep-seated awareness at the cellular level.

Now here is something you should know. “Critical mass” is not that difficult to achieve. It is not nearly as high a number as most people think. It takes a very small percentage of the whole to form sufficient mass to affect the whole.

Let me give you an example as a means of explana-tion.

Right now when you move into any moment, you rarely do so with your state of being determined ahead of time. You wait until you see what the moment contains and provides, and then you respond by being some-thing.

Perhaps you wind up being sad. Perhaps you wind up being happy. Perhaps you wind up being disappointed, or elated.

But now, suppose you decided ahead of time how you were going to be when you moved into that moment. Suppose you decided that you were going to be peaceful, no matter how that moment showed up.

Do you think it would make any difference in the way that you experienced the moment itself?

Of course it would.

Let me tell you something. It is when you decide how you are going to show up before the moment shows up chat you have begun to move to mastery. You have learned to master the moment, and that is the beginning of mastery in living.
