CWG vs DU
DU1 includes a very direct attack on CWG2 (pg. 126)
Here in the 1990s, one of the most popular spiritual books ever written will have God Himself saying that He created fear! That is an inaccuracy so major we cannot stress too much how completely false it is. God does not create anything that is not the perfect oneness of Heaven.
I think there is a mistake amongst levels here (which is an idea established by DU as well). Firstly, they have separate purposes. CWG is meant to answer Neil’s questions. DU is meant to translate the language of A Course in Miracles. So, their coloring is different. In fact, it is the context which gives the eternal and unfathomable form (another idea from DU itself).
Furthermore, DU is talking from absolute reality. CWG blends both levels of absolute and relative reality because since Neil himself is speaking from within relative reality. DU (and its following book, Your Immortal Reality: How to Break the Cycle of Life and Death) also cover this! Their whole analogy is that you don’t shake a child awake from a nightmare. You lovingly and slowly bring them awake.
In talking from absolute reality, DU is unwilling to even entertain the relative; it is not even interested in modification. This is where it differs from CWG. From a certain perspective, though, the relative is needed to soften up a person to receive the absolute. Gary himself spent 14 years doing preliminary practices before receiving his teaching. Using a more general example, we have the practice of Naam Jaap. From the absolute perspective, parroting naam is the “wrong” practice. But for someone just starting, the parroting is what they will have to start with to go into deeper practices (see imperfect practices lead to perfection).
Ultimately, we are God absolutely. We have created fear in this relative realm
Finally, even though they may seem oppositional in form, every text is different based on the context and culture its come into, even though the source and the message are the same:
ਦੇਹਰਾ ਮਸੀਤ ਸੋਈ ਪੂਜਾ ਔ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਓਈ ਮਾਨਸ ਸਬੈ ਏਕ ਪੈ ਅਨੇਕ ਕੋ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਉ ਹੈ ॥
The temple and the mosque are the same, there is no difference between a Hindu worship and Muslim prayer all the human beings are the same, but the illusion is of various types.
ਦੇਵਤਾ ਅਦੇਵ ਜੱਛ ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬ ਤੁਰਕ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਨਿਆਰੇ ਨਿਆਰੇ ਦੇਸਨ ਕੇ ਭੇਸ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਉ ਹੈ ॥
The gods, demons, Yakshas, Gandharvas, Turks and Hindus… all these are due to the differences of the various garbs of different countries.
