necessary distance
learning is less so about the form of the content, it is about the content. To access the content, you need distance. The common perspective from which we approach life is so zoomed-in; Think of a Minecraft map. We’re so close to the content of our life that its gravity exerts an inexorable and implacable force on us. We need distance—space—to free us from that force. We will see things clearly, being less likely to be lead astray, and we will not be forced to think about so many so-called issues at once; we will focus on the matter at hand, and bring all our energy to bear.
