the art of waiting

When we have some demands of a situation or practice (e.g., music, spiritual, meditation, etc), we enter the realm of our biased perception; we’re so focused on what we want, we filter out so much information from the outside world.

Instead, we could just practice waiting. Just keep doing whatever it is you’re doing, and wait for something to arise. That’s where learning and the new realizations come from.

[As an aside, this is also why it’s not great to look at your phone while taking breaks. We’re always filling our time and numbing our brains, instead of waiting, so nothing ever comes.]
